Plus, the 2007 Adam Gay Video Directory is upon us and we have an update of sorts on the sixteen-year-old unsolved murder of Billy London.

"I can't think of a better way to give back to the community than to rescue dogs that we love so dearly we named our company after them," sayeth Pitbull CEO Jalin Fuentes in a press release... Here are the 2006 Transsexual Performer of the Year nominees as decided by Adult Video News (winners to be announced at their Vegas show January 13th): last year's winner Gia Darling, Danielle Foxxx, Joanna Jet, Alannah Starr, Holly Sweet, Vanity (the 2003 winner), Wendy Williams and the category's first female-to-male nominee, Buck Angel. REMEMBERING BILLY LONDON
One of gay porn's tragedies is the unsolved murder of Billy London, whose life was taken on October 29th, 1990 in West Hollywood. The police detective first on the scene sixteen years ago has been haunted by the crime and seeks to this day to bring justice to Mr. London and his family. As recently as last Halloween, a local Fox affiliate aired a report about the crime and made an on-air plea for leads. I heard recently from Billy London's father, who has been tireless in his efforts to bring his son's killer to justice. He spoke with me to correct a recent blurb about the crime published on GAYVN.com that inferred that the investigation was on the back burner. Absolutely not true, Mr. London's father told me. The case is "still active and ongoing" and Mr. London's family is in regular contact with detectives working this cold case. I'll have more details in an upcoming column in the new year.
GUS IS BACK! (SORTA)
Okay, okay, so Gus Mattox (the reigning GAYVN Performer of the Year) is still retired. But the Buckshot Productions "division" of COLT Studio has a tasty holiday treat for fans of the smiling stud—a special edition DVD of his last film, titled BIG RIG: EXTENDED CAB PREMIUM EDITION. Included in the package is a "second disc of never before seen bonus scenes," per the press release, "and a behind-the-scenes documentary called BIG RIG: The Making Of."
Mr. Mattox appears in a vignette titled "The Rest of the Story Off Exit 69" wherein he is paired with newbie Buckshot Man Alex Chandler. Another added scene pairs Danny Roddick (Mr. Chandler's real-life partner) with Colby Taylor. The hourlong documentary includes interviews with helmer John Rutherford and various castmates including radio host Derek Hartley (who is shamelessly pushing hard for a nonsex nomination at the various awards shows this spring; check out the details in last week's column). This extended edition, which also includes a copy of a BIG RIG magazine produced last spring, is only available for the moment via COLTstudiostore.com.
MARKIE'S NEW HOME
Performer Markie has been making films since 2001 for studios like Allan Alan Pictures, The Body Shoppe, L.A. Heat Video and Factory Video (plus occasional big-studio forays for Catalina Video and others). He's nothing if not industrious with a packed schedule of personal appearances and a popular website, MarkiesWorld.com.
His latest project? The new VOD site MarkiesBigDickClub.com, set to launch January 1st. The title pretty much spells out the content, eh? He claims the oversized sausages to be found are "not Photoshopped...and are all hand picked by me!" Gay men, straight chicks and even our transgendered sistahs will apparently find something of interest.
Speaking of those personal appearances, Markie will be promoting the new website and headlining the Factory Video booth January 10th-13th in Las Vegas at the Erotic Expo and at the Internext Vegas convention January 15th-17th.

HUDSON IS A (RED) DEVIL
The singularly talented writer/director Jett Blakk sent out a late-year press release announcing a tantalizing team-up between his Red Devil Entertainment and performer Ty Hudson's company, Tyger's Eye Imaging. Their forthcoming film will be titled DANTE after the Dante Alighieri epic poem "The Divine Comedy."
Hey, if director Lucas Kazan can craft the superb THE SCHOOL FOR LOVERS from Mozart's "Così fan tutte," then Jett Blakk can adapt "The Divine Comedy" for the skin screen; besides, this is the guy who had the balls to build a sex comedy around Orson Wells' 1938 radio broadcast of "War of the Worlds." (That would be 2005's MARS NEEDS MEN for All Worlds Video. Check it out.)
Mr. Hudson is striking while the iron is hot as he enjoys the best reviews of his career with the starring role in Oh Man! Studios' BEHIND THE SECRET DOOR for director Bruno Riccelli. "Ty's enthusiasm really impressed me," Mr. Blakk says in the press release. "He had a script he was very excited about. I helped him during the drafting to make it more porn-friendly. It's a very different kind of adult film, very personal, which is why Ty is co-directing with me. It's metaphysical with Gothic themes, and raises questions about who and what we are as men." Hey, I'm all for anything that pushes the creative envelope in gay porn.
Per Mr. Blakk, newbie Logan Robbins has the lead role of Dante, with hottie-pup Trent Atkins playing his boyfriend. Costars include Chad Hunt, Trevor Knight, Damon Phoenix, Zackary Pierce, Eddie Stone and Mr. Hudson himself, who will assay three roles. RedDevilWorld.com and Channel1Releasing.com will handle distribution chores this spring.

For this pre-Christmas column in "The Adams Report by JC Adams," Michael Lucas has a red-carpet premiere in New York and all the gossipmeisters are talking (naturally!). Plus, radio host (and nonsex performer) Derek Hartley is shameless and Raging Stallion goes gonzo. Deck the halls!
RAGING STALLION IS GONZO
Raging Stallion Studios has multiple reasons to celebrate this Christmas. Studio honcho Chris Ward's MANIFESTO was his 100th film and one of the year's best fuck flicks; plus, his ARABESQUE is not only one of the top-selling movies of 2006, but a fiveway in that film between Huessein, JC, Joey Russo, Sarib and Colin West has entered legend, earning Best Group Scene GAYVN and Grabby Awards and a slot among the best sex scenes of the decade.
In recent weeks RSS has released the fast-selling HUMPING IRON under Michael Brandon's Monster Bang Video line, as well as the acclaimed second and third volumes of CENTURION MUSCLE(ALPHA and OMEGA) under JD Slater's Centurion Muscle line. Expect all four to be multiple award nominees this spring.
They've also signed a long-term North American distribution deal with a minor European studio named...Cazzo Films. Folks, that is a major coup. Together with Bel Ami, German powerhouse Cazzo Films defines European gay porn. Rising star Tamas Eszterhazy, he of the unpronounceable surname, extravagant tattoos and awe-inspiring eight-pack abs, has been signed as a joint exclusive between the two studios. And now they've got LORDS OF THE JUNGLE, shot on location in Hawaii (go to LordsoftheJungle.com for more details) and featuring RSS Man of the Year Jake Deckard alongside newbies like Marc LaSalle (yum) and tattooed African-American hottie Rambo (all muscle and glowering bravado and body ink).
The latest RSS news is a gonzo line beginning with the delicately titled FUCK MY ASS, I'LL SUCK YOUR COCK. A Euro-porn feature from director Alberto Rey, costars include stalwarts of the Eastern European skin flick circuit, among them Claudio Antonelli, Rick Bauer and James Jordan. "Gonzo" was coined by Adult Video News trade magazine and is defined as a porn film with little or no plot or structured editing and shot in real time, essentially. Although gonzo is a thriving subgenre on the hetero side, it's never been embraced by the gay side. Yes, we have "all-sex" titles but even then they tend to have themes and costumes and structure. Constant Readers know I've been a guest "sexpert" on the "Derek & Romaine Show" on Sirius OutQ satellite radio (channel 106) since 2004. Cohost Derek Hartley has a couple of news items and I'm happy to spread the word. LUCAS' LA DOLCE VITA
Exactly one year ago you couldn't toss a used condom without hitting someone who'd heard (and had a heated opinion, it must be said) about MICHAEL LUCAS' DANGEROUS LIAISONS. Flash ahead twelve short months and what have we got? Different verse, same as the first. Mr. Lucas has managed to corral a bushel and a peck of press for the release of LA DOLCE VITA (thanks in no small part to a lot of exhausting leg work by his Lucas Entertainment team). He didn't take any time off, either. Mr. Lucas is currently in production on a new film costarring Chad Hunt (yes, that's right) with megahung exclusive Ben Andrews and the XXX-return of Johnny Hanson (which I exclusively dished in this space some weeks back), who cameos nonsexually in LA DOLCE VITA. LaDolceVitaXXX.com and LucasBlog.com have more specifics.
My own copy of the movie was only just now hand-delivered on a silver platter nestled amid folds of imported red silk, accompanied by Italian castrato who simultaneously warbled three variations of Handel's "Messiah." Take THAT, Falcon Studios!
The chocolate that actually accompanied my two-disc set (the wrapper was printed with LA DOLE VITA) was actually a nice touch; the package was wrapped in silver-and-black ribbon (also printed with LA DOLCE VITA in case one needed a nudge). Among the bonus features are bloopers and outtakes, a making-of featurette (natch), the entire script and bonus sex scenes, among them a Chad Hunt/Rod Barry clash of the titans, a Cole Ryan/Erik Grant tumble and a Lucas/Spencer Quest watersports vignette.
Fleshbot was on hand to cover the red-carpet premiere of LA DOLCE VITA (catch all the pics at Fleshbot.com/gay) and the New York Daily News ran select items on their gossip pages, among them an encounter with designer Marc Jacobs (who gave clothes to select cast members to wear and allowed Mr. Lucas to shoot a sex scene in his store) whom they corralled on the red carpet and pressured into admitting that he'd broken up with his boyfriend; this news flash was of such severe importance it made headlines on various gossip websites and sent shockwaves through A-gay circles for six or seven whole minutes.
The SoHo Playhouse hosted the premiere December 12th. "A who's who of Manhattan's downtown scene flooded" the premiere, reports Fleshbot.com. "Downtown trannie diva Amanda Lepore was whisked in all plastic and fantastic with Baby Jun and some hot Latin boys. Members of the audience were heard guessing about who had bigger tits: Amanda or [costar] Savanna [Samson]?" Also among the crowd were "PJ DeBoy and his partner Paul Dawson [who] play the hot gay couple in John Cameron Mitchell's Shortbus and told me they both loved the film; being experts in movies involving real-life sexual situations, their opinion is probably worth something."
After the screening (a truncated, hourlong version), " Big Brother contestant, radio show host and all-around A-Gay Will Wikle hosted a panel discussion with the stars...while his boyfriend Jason Bellini, the CBS News on LOGO anchor, watched from the audience. But somehow porn stars and Q&A segments just don't mix: it was like watching an SNL spoof of a Learning Annex class, though we loved hearing from Lucas Entertainment PR mistress Heather Reznor, who stole every scene she was in (as ace reporter Heather Weathers) and who was clearly the crowd favorite." I can vouch for Ms. Reznor's coolness; we spent a great afternoon together dishing and talking shop last time I was in the Big Apple.
The Fleshbot report notes that Mr. Lucas "wore jeans with a velvet blazer and mugged and pouted for the camera all night long. While watching the film side by side with Samson he laughed at himself. That's what's great about Michael: despite whatever you may think about him, he doesn't take himself or the industry seriously."
As we went to press, ManNet.com had already chimed in with a "highly, highly recommended" early review: LA DOLCE VITA "aims as high as possible, and Michael Lucas and his team have put such precise care into the making of this movie and such a stamp on it that it resonates with vision and clarity, not to mention the outrageous perfection it clearly wants from the first glossy frame."

A Euro-porn feature from director Alberto Rey, costars include stalwarts of the Eastern European skin flick circuit, among them Claudio Antonelli, Rick Bauer and James Jordan. "Gonzo" was coined by Adult Video News trade magazine and is defined as a porn film with little or no plot or structured editing and shot in real time, essentially. Although gonzo is a thriving subgenre on the hetero side, it's never been embraced by the gay side. Yes, we have "all-sex" titles but even then they tend to have themes and costumes and structure. LUCAS' LA DOLCE VITAExactly one year ago you couldn't toss a used condom without hitting someone who'd heard (and had a heated opinion, it must be said) about MICHAEL LUCAS' DANGEROUS LIAISONS. Flash ahead twelve short months and what have we got? Different verse, same as the first. Mr. Lucas has managed to corral a bushel and a peck of press for the release of LA DOLCE VITA (thanks in no small part to a lot of exhausting leg work by his Lucas Entertainment team). He didn't take any time off, either. Mr. Lucas is currently in production on a new film costarring Chad Hunt (yes, that's right) with megahung exclusive Ben Andrews and the XXX-return of Johnny Hanson (which I exclusively dished in this space some weeks back), who cameos nonsexually in LA DOLCE VITA. LaDolceVitaXXX.com and LucasBlog.com have more specifics.
My own copy of the movie was only just now hand-delivered on a silver platter nestled amid folds of imported red silk, accompanied by Italian castrato who simultaneously warbled three variations of Handel's "Messiah." Take THAT, Falcon Studios!
The chocolate that actually accompanied my two-disc set (the wrapper was printed with LA DOLE VITA) was actually a nice touch; the package was wrapped in silver-and-black ribbon (also printed with LA DOLCE VITA in case one needed a nudge). Among the bonus features are bloopers and outtakes, a making-of featurette (natch), the entire script and bonus sex scenes, among them a Chad Hunt/Rod Barry clash of the titans, a Cole Ryan/Erik Grant tumble and a Lucas/Spencer Quest watersports vignette.
Fleshbot was on hand to cover the red-carpet premiere of LA DOLCE VITA (catch all the pics at Fleshbot.com/gay) and the New York Daily News ran select items on their gossip pages, among them an encounter with designer Marc Jacobs (who gave clothes to select cast members to wear and allowed Mr. Lucas to shoot a sex scene in his store) whom they corralled on the red carpet and pressured into admitting that he'd broken up with his boyfriend; this news flash was of such severe importance it made headlines on various gossip websites and sent shockwaves through A-gay circles for six or seven whole minutes.The SoHo Playhouse hosted the premiere December 12th. "A who's who of Manhattan's downtown scene flooded" the premiere, reports Fleshbot.com. "Downtown trannie diva Amanda Lepore was whisked in all plastic and fantastic with Baby Jun and some hot Latin boys. Members of the audience were heard guessing about who had bigger tits: Amanda or [costar] Savanna [Samson]?" Also among the crowd were "PJ DeBoy and his partner Paul Dawson [who] play the hot gay couple in John Cameron Mitchell's Shortbus and told me they both loved the film; being experts in movies involving real-life sexual situations, their opinion is probably worth something."
After the screening (a truncated, hourlong version), " Big Brother contestant, radio show host and all-around A-Gay Will Wikle hosted a panel discussion with the stars...while his boyfriend Jason Bellini, the CBS News on LOGO anchor, watched from the audience. But somehow porn stars and Q&A segments just don't mix: it was like watching an SNL spoof of a Learning Annex class, though we loved hearing from Lucas Entertainment PR mistress Heather Reznor, who stole every scene she was in (as ace reporter Heather Weathers) and who was clearly the crowd favorite." I can vouch for Ms. Reznor's coolness; we spent a great afternoon together dishing and talking shop last time I was in the Big Apple.The Fleshbot report notes that Mr. Lucas "wore jeans with a velvet blazer and mugged and pouted for the camera all night long. While watching the film side by side with Samson he laughed at himself. That's what's great about Michael: despite whatever you may think about him, he doesn't take himself or the industry seriously."
As we went to press, ManNet.com had already chimed in with a "highly, highly recommended" early review: LA DOLCE VITA "aims as high as possible, and Michael Lucas and his team have put such precise care into the making of this movie and such a stamp on it that it resonates with vision and clarity, not to mention the outrageous perfection it clearly wants from the first glossy frame."

This week in The Adams Report by JC Adams we sadly bid farewell to four of our own. We recently confirmed that classic COLT Man and physique model Kirby Scott passed in Atlanta on November 2nd. And this week alone we lost famed helmer Matt Sterling and popular performer Andy Dill on Wednesday, followed by fan-favorite Rocky on Thursday. Our condolences to their families, friends and fans.
ROCKY: 1980-2006
A distressing week for the gay adult community closed with the news that performer Rocky died on Thursday, December 7th in Los Angeles. He was 26 years old. His agent David Forest notified the industry of his passing. Rocky was diagnosed with cancer in May, 2006 and was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood. When he died, he was undergoing chemotherapy as he battled the cancer and other HIV-related illnesses.
Rocky "had been HIV-positive for three years," Mr. Forest told us. "Rocky never left Cedars all these months. Chemotherapy and radiation treatment...made him even sicker, so [doctors] stopped and just tried to keep him comfortable until they could resume. They did resume the past few months but couldn't arrest the deadly disease. I have confirmed with his family that he did leave us this last Thursday." Rocky, whose birth name was Ernest Juarez, is survived by his parents and a younger sister.
One of gay adult's popular supporting players, Rocky appeared in roughly 30 films between 2001 and 2004. He was active on the social scene and made frequent personal appearances. Some of Rocky's titles include THE BACHELOR (All Worlds Video, 2003); COWBOY RIDES AGAIN (Big Blue Productions, 2004); CRASH OF THE TITANS (Big Blue, 2001); PALMER'S LUST (Pacific Sun Entertainment); QUARTERBACK SACK (Jocks Studios); THE SCOUT CLUB (Studio 2000, 2002); and TULSA COUNTY LINE (Men of Odyssey, 2001).
Performer Jack Ryan wrote in and shared some of his thoughts. Rocky was "one of the guys who really brought a fun vibe with him wherever he went. Smart, sexy, and a great sense of humor are simple but accurate terms to describe him. He had such a fun, loving spirit and enjoyment of life. I never heard him complain; rather, he was always the one to turn a situation into a fun time. At times quiet and reserved, he always held himself well and exuded sensuality and confidence without words, just his beautiful eyes...those of us models who were fortunate enough to work with him, and get to know him off-set, all had nothing but nice things to say about him."
"I went to visit him two weeks ago. It was very hard to see him there, fighting for his life," writes performer Mario Cruz on his blog (CruzinAround.blogspot.com). Remembering Rocky as "one of the sweetest persons I've met in this industry," he recalls they "shared some fun times together, and I will treasure them forever in my memory. I still remember when we met and I still remember how he provided me support during hard times. I will always remember the moments we shared like going for supper or clubs or the time we go-go danced together at The Stone. You were special. I know this is cliche, but I hope you are in a better place. You will be missed and remembered."
Publicist Jason Sechrest of JasonCurious.com was close with Rocky and wrote movingly about him this week. "Rocky was just a total joy to be around," he remembered on his blog. "I never knew him to be unhappy. In the midst of chaos, he could remain calm and smiling, taking the confusion in stride and just taking the adventures that life brings.
Mr. Sechrest also remembered Rocky's work ethic. "He was one of the hardest working performers I've ever known, too. Never a diva and always willing to be the one in the 'difficult' position, Rocky never complained and always did anything that was asked of him. That's why he was often paired with performers who are notoriously difficult to work with...Gosh, you'll be missed, studly."
KIRBY SCOTT: 1962-2006
We recently received word of another passing and it took a few days to confirm the sad details. A classic COLT Man as well as a popular fitness and physique model, Kirby Scott, 44, died November 2 in Atlanta, Georgia. The cause of death was a drug overdose, per a newspaper obituary.
Mr. Scott's early COLT work was collected in THE BEST OF COLT FILMS 1 & 2 and THE BEST OF COLT 10 and he frequently appeared in various COLT publications. In the late '90s Mr. Scott worked for Can-Am (THE WRESTLE CLUB) and Sharpshooter Studios (THE NAKED FOOTBALL LEAGUE). Athletic, blond and ruggedly handsome, he continued to model (usually under his given name of Joseph Myska) as late as last year; recent shoots can be seen at LouisLaSalle.com and Kevin-Caudill.com. MATT STERLING: RIP
Although the gay adult business had been aware of his ill health in recent years, it was still a shock to receive word that legendary director Matt Sterling had died. His friend and fellow director, John Travis, notified the industry of his passing. Per a report on GAYVN.com, the helmer died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood of "a motor neuron disease he was diagnosed with 18 years ago."
One of the founders of gay adult entertainment and a GAYVN Hall of Famer, Matt Sterling's career stretched across four decades, including his Brentwood Studios label and the famed Huge Video line, through which he produced and directed such acclaimed titles as BIG & THICK (1984), BIGGER THAN LIFE (1986), A MATTER OF SIZE (1983) and TRADEWINDS (1996).
Mr. Sterling's work with industry legends stand as some of gay adult's best, including HEAT OF THE NIGHT with Rex Chandler (1989), IDOL EYES with Ryan Idol (1990) and STRYKER FORCE with Jeff Stryker (1987). In recent years, he produced FEAST YOUR EYES (2002) and A MATTER OF SIZE 2 (2005).
I heard from Josh Jacobs, Mr. Sterling's close friend and executive producer at Huge Video and Matt Sterling Films, soon after posting the news of Mr. Sterling's passing on our website. "I have been in touch with his family back east," Mr. Jacobs told me, "and his friend of thirty-plus years, producer/director John Travis, will be helping with the final arrangements with Matt's family." Mr. Sterling is survived by his mother and sister.
I'm told a memorial is in the works for the gay adult community. As for Matt Sterling's final projects, four films (and a revamped website) were in the pipeline when the director died. All four will be released in 2007. "We have been filming and editing these [movies] for two years and I will utilize [John Travis] and [director] Thor Stephans to help with the finishing touches. Thank you for the announcement and keep an eye out for his [last movies]! A legend has surely passed away."
ANDY DILL: RIP
Our friends at the LavenderLounge.com blog first conveyed the shocking news this week that performer and director Andy Dill died following a brief struggle with meningitis. Per the blog, Mr. Dill "died at 3:00pm Wednesday. He spent only a few days in the hospital, but deteriorated quickly, and was gone."
Andy Dill was a popular performer who appeared in roughly 18 films between 2003 and 2005. Among his titles were the award-winning GAYDREAMS 2: SAN FRANCISCO NIGHTS (Raging Stallion Studios), THERE GOES THE NEIGHBORHOOD (All Worlds Video), MEN'S ROOM: BAKERSFIELD STATION (Titan Media) and TAG! YOU'RE IT! (Arena Entertainment).
His association with Raging Stallion led to the formation of Dill Media, under which Mr. Dill produced BEDROCK, an acclaimed title which he also directed and filmed. Recently, Andy Dill had joined forces with San Francisco's Bear Films, for whom he directed and oversaw production. He was also the proprietor of RedHeadGuys.com. More details are forthcoming. Our deep condolences to his family, friends and fans.
Mr. Dill was among our best-liked denizens and his sudden passing was especially shocking. The night he died, the LavenderLounge.com blog recalled him as "one of the sweetest, most wonderful people in the gay porn industry." And GAYVN.com notes that the "suddenness of the illness' onslaught took everyone aback. 'But I just spoke to him the other day,' was a phrase that echoes through emails and phone calls as the unhappy news spread."
A tribute at BearFilms.com reads, "He was very passionate about the adult industry and his creativity and ideas were unsurpassed. Andy will be remembered for a great many things, most notably his love for caffeinated mints and his feisty dog, Bunky! All of us at Bear Films are going to profoundly miss Andy and we offer our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends." On ChrisWardpornblog.com, director Chris Ward of Raging Stallion said simply, "Our hearts hurt with his loss."
Folks, as we grapple with these losses during the holiday season, I want to ask all of you to take a moment and thank the performer or director whose work you admire and whose career you follow. It doesn't matter if you've said it a dozen times already; say it again. Send them an email, make a phone call, write a letter. Do it. They may not reply; it doesn't matter. What matters is to make the effort. Do it. It will make a difference even if you never know it. It means something to extend yourself. Do it now. Do it.

Zeb Atlas will be at Rage in West Hollywood for "The X Show" November 28th. He follows that up with appearances at Play in Nashville on December 8th, and The Dock in Cincinnati on December 9th. He's promoting his new flick ZEB ATLAS: A GOD IN PARADISE (nothing humble about that title) and will have a new feather in his cap: Men magazine just named him their Man of the Year for the second time.
