INDUSTRY UPDATE: JOHNNY HANSEN RETURNS TO XXX
NEW YORK CITY -- Porn mogul Michael Lucas has announced that XXX legend Johnny Hanson will appear in MICHAEL LUCAS' LA DOLCE VITA, currently filming in New York City. Mr. Hanson's infamous vanishing act at the height of his fame was the talk of the gay adult industry in the mid-1990s.
Mr. Lucas told The Adams Report by JC Adams that Johnny Hanson's part in LA DOLCE VITA is currently a nonsexual role with an option to trade up. "I could film him right now," Mr. Lucas says. "He still looks very good and of course you remember that big, fat dick! But Johnny wants to look his best [before] he starts to film porn again. We're meeting this weekend to decide. But he will shoot for my company soon."
Describing Mr. Hanson [pictured far left with Brad Star] as "my favorite porn actor from the 90s," Michael Lucas says he discovered the stud working in New York earlier this year. "It's been ten years since his last film and he is not a boy anymore. He is definitely a man."
Johnny Hanson made just five films in 1995 and 1996—all of them modern classics—before he disappeared from the porn scene without a trace. Those films are Falcon's THE OTHER SIDE OF ASPEN III and IV, Centaur Films' HOT FIREMEN, Studio 2000's TRYING IT ON FOR SIZE and Falcon's DOWNLOAD, for which Mr. Hanson was famously photographed on the cover in all of his brawny beauty.

As we reported earlier on this site, veteran producer, director and performer Paul Barresi has scandalized Hollywood with the online publication of a chapter of his memoir-in-progress. The excerpt details Mr. Barresi's dealings with a gay porn performer nicknamed "Big Red" and his alleged affair with Tom Cruise and other male celebrities.
MSNBC.com gossip columnist Jeannette Walls details the excerpt: "In one chapter...Barresi tells how someone calls him to sell a story about Cruise—similar to the one that Cruise successfully sued porn star Kyle Bradford (a.k.a. Chad Slater) over—and Barresi details how Cruise's team got the story killed. Barresi neither proves nor disproves the claim."
Ms. Walls contacted Bert Fields, Mr. Cruise's lawyer, for a comment. His reply was that Paul Barresi's allegations are "one hundred percent false [and] we can prove it." Further, "If Mr. Barresi were to publish what we have seen on that [website], I absolutely would recommend appropriate legal action against both Mr. Barresi and the publisher."
There's more. Author (Hollywood Interrupted), blogger and celebrity gadfly Mark Ebner scored more tantalizing scoops from Mr. Barresi, who reveals that he is featured in the upcoming documentary Running with Arnold. The film is about Arnold Schwarzenegger's successful gubernatorial run in California and allegedly paints an unflattering portrait of him. Mr. Ebner blogs that Paul Barresi was "lead security escort" for Mr. Schwarzenegger and wife Maria Shriver for an event in 1994 and was asked by a private detective (no less than the infamous Anthony Pellicano, now jailed for other reasons) to sniff out the future governor's dirty laundry. "Once again, the Bagman got the dirt," Mr. Ebner writes.
("The Bagman" is the nickname given to Paul Barresi in an April 2001 cover story Mr. Ebner co-wrote for the now-defunct alternative newsweekly New Times Los Angeles. It primarily covered Mr. Barresi's involvement in funneling hush money to transvestites caught up in the 1997 Eddie Murphy scandal.)

Will the real Austin Rogers please stand up? Gossip site Defamer.com took note of an amusing mix-up recently involving IMDb.com—the Internet Movie Database. It appears Euro-hunk Austin Rogers had a recent credit—FUCK FACTORY for director Csaba Borbely and Private Man—applied to a mainstream actor with the same name who happens to be all of twelve years old. Oops. Within hours of Defamer poking fun at the mistake, IMDb.com editors fixed the mistake. Heh. Okay, so that's not brilliant comedy; gimme a break, it's slow this time of year.
GAY EROTIC EXPO-SURE
The latest Gay Erotic Expo unspooled September 9th and 10th in the L.A. Convention Center. BLUE’S NEW CASTLE
It turned out to be a busy weekend in West Hollywood. Director Blue Blake and hubby Harold Huttas threw a housewarming party now that their new abode in West Hollywood is refurbished and polished to gleam. Among the porn contingent schmoozing were Mr. Blake's striking new discovery Cody Miller, a young bodybuilder with flawless olive skin and an adorably shy demeanor (soon to debut in MUSCLEMEN MOVING CO. 2 and on the cover of XXX Showcase in a few months); hunky Robert Van Damme; shutterbugs Anthony Duran and Mick Hicks; and Vince Harrington (a/k/a Lana Luster) of Pacific Sun, Mr. Blake's new distribution home. Mr. Hicks has a few photobooks on the burner, while Mr. Duran has a couple of interesting projects he'll be announcing soon. Mr. Van Damme and I have only met a couple of times but he remembered every detail of our last encounter and in fact nearly snapped my spine in a bear hug. JASON’S OUT
Jason Sechrest of JasonCurious.com is out as host of the weekly "COCKtails with the Stars" at Micky's nightclub in West Hollywood. Apparently there was some kind of brouhaha involving Mr. Sechrest, Rascal Exclusive Luca DiCorso and director Doug Jeffries, which resulted in Mr. Sechrest taking a powder from the gig for two weeks to keep the peace while dragstress/director Coco Lachine manned the microphone. Well, before the two weeks were up Mr. Sechrest was replaced in favor of new Cybersocket magazine editor Scott Boardman.
Mr. Sechrest is certainly not hurting for work as he shoots a reality TV pilot and completes post-production on his erotic fuck flick BULLY. He was the fourth "COCKtails" host; the late Johnny Rey kicked off the schmoozathon way back in pre-history followed by the now-retired Grant Wood. Performer Will Clark then took over for several years, followed by Mr. Sechrest, who spills the dirt on the dust-up in his online journal and promises another porno meet-and-greet event in WeHo soon. RIP: KRISTIAN BROOKS, BRANDY DALTON
It is my unfortunate duty to report on the passing of two members of our community. This week I was able to confirm that that performer Kristian Brooks has died. He passed from AIDS at a hospice in Colorado, according to a family friend. He was 35 years old.
Kristian Brooks was a popular star in the late '90s and appeared in over 30 titles between 1997 and 1999, many of them considered classics of the era. His acclaimed performances include DREAM TEAM (Studio 2000, 1999) and FAMILY VALUES (Men of Odyssey, 1997) for legendary director Jerry Douglas, as well as FEVER (Falcon Studios, 1998), HARDCORE (All Worlds Video, 1998), HIGH TIDE (Falcon, 1997), PRAGUE RISING (Studio 2000, 2000), REFORM SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL (All Worlds, 1997) and TIME COPS (Centaur Films, 1998). He appeared on several box covers including HOTTER THAN LIFE (All Worlds, 1997).
More details are forthcoming, including remembrances from those who knew him well. On a personal note, I worked with Kristian Brooks and got to know him on the set of DREAM TEAM. He was talkative, bright and always had an anecdote related to his sexcapades that had the cast and crew in stitches. That's how I'll remember him. Our deep condolences to his family, friends and fans.
And last week I confirmed the news that musician Brandy Dalton of the band Drance died August 4th. Mr. Dalton passed from AIDS, a disease he lived with for 17 years. A longtime habitué of the Los Angeles underground scene, Mr. Dalton in the 1980s began performing with his boyfriend Robert Woods, eventually forming the techno/electronica band Drance; Mr. Woods passed from AIDS in 1995. Will the real Austin Rogers please stand up? Gossip site Defamer.com took note of an amusing mix-up recently involving IMDb.com—the Internet Movie Database. It appears Euro-hunk Austin Rogers had a recent credit—FUCK FACTORY for director Csaba Borbely and Private Man—applied to a mainstream actor with the same name who happens to be all of twelve years old. It turned out to be a busy weekend in West Hollywood. Director Blue Blake and hubby Harold Huttas threw a housewarming party now that their new abode in West Hollywood is refurbished and polished to gleam. Among the porn contingent schmoozing were Mr. Blake's striking new discovery Cody Miller, a young bodybuilder with flawless olive skin and an adorably shy demeanor (soon to debut in MUSCLEMEN MOVING CO. 2 and on the cover of XXX Showcase in a few months); hunky Robert Van Damme; shutterbugs Anthony Duran and Mick Hicks; and Vince Harrington (a/k/a Lana Luster) of Pacific Sun, Mr. Blake's new distribution home. Apparently there was some kind of brouhaha involving Mr. Sechrest, Rascal Exclusive Luca DiCorso and director Doug Jeffries, which resulted in Mr. Sechrest taking a powder from the gig for two weeks to keep the peace while dragstress/director Coco Lachine manned the microphone. Well, before the two weeks were up Mr. Sechrest was replaced in favor of new Cybersocket magazine editor Scott Boardman.Mr. Sechrest is certainly not hurting for work as he shoots a reality TV pilot and completes post-production on his erotic fuck flick BULLY. He was the fourth "COCKtails" host; the late Johnny Rey kicked off the schmoozathon way back in pre-history followed by the now-retired Grant Wood. RIP: KRISTIAN BROOKS, BRANDY DALTON
It is my unfortunate duty to report on the passing of two members of our community. This week I was able to confirm that that performer Kristian Brooks has died. He passed from AIDS at a hospice in Colorado, according to a family friend. He was 35 years old.
Kristian Brooks was a popular star in the late '90s and appeared in over 30 titles between 1997 and 1999, many of them considered classics of the era. His acclaimed performances include DREAM TEAM (Studio 2000, 1999) and FAMILY VALUES (Men of Odyssey, 1997) for legendary director Jerry Douglas, as well as FEVER (Falcon Studios, 1998), HARDCORE (All Worlds Video, 1998), HIGH TIDE (Falcon, 1997), PRAGUE RISING (Studio 2000, 2000), REFORM SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL (All Worlds, 1997) and TIME COPS (Centaur Films, 1998). He appeared on several box covers including HOTTER THAN LIFE (All Worlds, 1997).
More details are forthcoming, including remembrances from those who knew him well. On a personal note, I worked with Kristian Brooks and got to know him on the set of DREAM TEAM. He was talkative, bright and always had an anecdote related to his sexcapades that had the cast and crew in stitches. That's how I'll remember him. Our deep condolences to his family, friends and fans.
And last week I confirmed the news that musician Brandy Dalton of the band Drance died August 4th. Mr. Dalton passed from AIDS, a disease he lived with for 17 years. A longtime habitué of the Los Angeles underground scene, Mr. Dalton in the 1980s began performing with his boyfriend Robert Woods, eventually forming the techno/electronica band Drance; Mr. Woods passed from AIDS in 1995. BREAKING INDUSTRY NEWS: Barresi Memoir Shocker
HOLLYWOOD -- Veteran producer, director and performer Paul Barresi has scandalized Hollywood with the online publication of a chapter of his memoir-in-progress. The excerpt details Mr. Barresi's dealings with a gay porn performer nicknamed "Big Red" and his alleged affair with Tom Cruise and other male celebrities.
MSNBC.com gossip columnist Jeannette Walls details the excerpt: "In one chapter...Barresi tells how someone calls him to sell a story about Cruise—similar to the one that Cruise successfully sued porn star Kyle Bradford (a.k.a. Chad Slater) over—and Barresi details how Cruise's team got the story killed. Barresi neither proves nor disproves the claim."
Ms. Walls contacted Bert Fields, Mr. Cruise's lawyer, for a comment. His reply was that Paul Barresi's allegations are "one hundred percent false [and] we can prove it." Further, "If Mr. Barresi were to publish what we have seen on that [website], I absolutely would recommend appropriate legal action against both Mr. Barresi and the publisher."
The adult entertainment career of Paul Barresi, 57, stretches back three decades. Well, it certainly sounds authentic. "They've made the desert even hotter!" pants the DVD coverline, and I am inclined to believe the hype judging by the pics of some of the very handsome cast members. COLORADO -- The "Adams Report by JC Adams" confirmed today that performer Kristian Brooks has died. He passed from AIDS at a hospice in Colorado, according to a family friend. He was 35 years old.
Kristian Brooks was a popular star in the late '90s and appeared in over 30 titles between 1997 and 1999, many of them considered classics of the era.
His acclaimed performances include DREAM TEAM (Studio 2000, 1999) and FAMILY VALUES (Men of Odyssey, 1997) for legendary director Jerry Douglas, as well as FEVER (Falcon Studios, 1998), HARDCORE (All Worlds Video, 1998), HIGH TIDE (Falcon, 1997), PRAGUE RISING (Studio 2000, 2000), REFORM SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL (All Worlds, 1997) and TIME COPS (Centaur Films, 1998). He appeared on several box covers including HOTTER THAN LIFE (All Worlds, 1997).
More details are forthcoming. On a personal note, I worked with Kristian Brooks and got to know him on the set of DREAM TEAM. He was talkative, bright and always had an anecdote related to his sexcapades that had the cast and crew in stitches. That's how I'll remember him. Our deep condolences to his family, friends and fans.

This week in the "Adams Report by JC Adams" Michael Lucas flies to Israel amid a storm of controversy and we take note of some porno-flavored, homoerotic undertones in another mainstream film. And we've also got another round in the battle royale between Avalon Pictures and Starr Studios.
LUCAS IN ISRAEL: YAY OR NAY?
What's another week without a little Michael Lucas brouhaha? As you read this column the porn mogul will be in Tel Aviv, Israel on his third performance tour in the last several years. He brought Lucas Entertainment Exclusive Jack McCarthy with him to hit one of Israel's biggest gay clubs and perform a live sex show, which is permitted in that country. So far, so good, right?
Back up to about a week ago when Mr. Lucas called and asked if I was near a computer. I was. He said, "Go to Google and type in 'Michael Lucas Israel' and tell me what happens." The Google search produced a few dozen articles that described the upcoming trip and Mr. Lucas in not-so-flattering terms. It appears a few conservative websites and/or muckrakers caught wind of the live-sex-show portion of the trip and took the opportunity to vent their spleens. The chain reaction apparently started when a UK gay news internet portal ran the Lucas Entertainment press release announcing the Israel trip; other news portals picked it up and suddenly we have a small brush fire burning in GayPornLand. Again.
"I genuinely find people's reaction to my Israel trip amazing," Mr. Lucas said on LucasBlog.com this past week. "As I write this, there are 228 comments on the most recent article at [YNetNews.com], aside from over 100 posted on their previous article. Aside from Page Six and MSNBC, now it's been mentioned on the Drudge Report as well. I can't even begin to reply to some of the hateful, backwards comments, but they can easily make a person's blood boil."
In an earlier entry, Mr. Lucas said he was "both hurt and surprised" by the incendiary response in some quarters to the news he was flying to Israel to perform. "I did not care about any of the hatred-filled comments from Arab or Muslim men. But the hateful comments from Jews were profoundly depressing...I can't believe some of us can be so intolerant, especially to gay people!"
He then spoke directly to his Jewish detractors, noting that yes, Lucas Entertainment is a gay porn studio. "But for the most part, I am just like you, proud to be Jewish, love my family, proud of Israel, and was glued to TV for the past month, worried for my people. The fact is, lots of people love and need porn. I do not harm anyone, I make them happy. I've performed in Israel three times already, every time with huge success, thousands attending my show at [nightclubs] TLV and VOX. The response was always wonderful, I entertain my way and a way that is appreciated by many. Let us respect those who enjoy this form of entertainment."
AVALON VS. STARR: BATTLE ROYALE
A couple weeks back I wrote about Avalon Pictures sending over a nice little incentive package to grease the publicity wheels for their new sort-of exclusive Fox Ryder. Within days, as everyone knows, of course, came the tragic news that Leroy Avalon was shot and killed on the set of SEX EDUCATION. I checked with the L.A. police department and they have no leads. However, studio honcho Mason Avalon did give me an exclusive statement, and it's a doozy: "We do know who is responsible and plan on revenging [sic] Leroy's death if at all possible."
This came on the heels of a very pissed-off email from Warren Starr of Starr Studios, who is so ticked at my recent naming of Fox Ryder as an Avalon Exclusive that he actually sent me a dead fish with a rose jammed into its mouth. C'mon, people!
Apparently young master Ryder is NOT an Avalon Exclusive but a "Starr Studd." "Ryder will begin filming his first scene with the studio later this month," read a press release. Warren Starr also snipes that "there was some speculation within the industry that Fox was working for another studio and that he had signed an exclusive contract, but that is not the case. It is ME who found Fox performing in a dingy club in Iowa and brought him to Los Angeles and it is ME who groomed him into the star he is going to be!" Glad we got that straightened out, then.
Here's the best part of the Starr Studios press release: "Furthermore, the studio in question may even say that Starr Studios was somehow involved with the unfortunate death of Leroy Avalon and the abduction of Fox from the set of Avalon Pictures' SEX EDUCATION. Let there be no mistake, Starr Studios has nothing to do with Fox Ryder being 'abducted,' he came with us willingly." Stay tuned for the next chapter, kids.
