The Adams Report by J.C. Adams
December 26, 2005 - January 1, 2006
GayPornLand pretty much shut down in advance of the XXX-mas holidays (boy, if the neo-conservatives are upset about people supposedly dumping "Christmas" in favor of "Happy Holidays," then "XXX-mas" has to have them shivering in their Rapture booties) so there ain't much happening this week. In forthcoming columns I'll dish about my recent set visit of an upcoming Adonis Pictures flick, continue my conversation with Palm Drive Video's Jack Fritscher and chew over other tidbits, such as the release of Jet Set's WET PALMS 7-9 and the reissue of "Idol Worship: A Shameless Celebration of Male Beauty in the Movies" by Michael Ferguson (STARbooks). In the meantime, let's take some time to revisit the year that we are currently shoving out the door, shall we?
One item of business first: The voting for Performer of the Year and Best Newcomer as decided by "The Adams Report by J.C. Adams" is open for one more week—until January 1st. Then I'll tabulate the top vote-getters in each category and reveal their names in that week's column. Here's are the two lists with the top three front-runners in each category:
Caleb Carter, Roman Heart and Marcos Pirelli are leading the potentials for Best Newcomer. The rest of the pack is as follows: Bruce Beckham, Kevin Brown, Remy Delaine, Luca DiCorso, Alex Fuerte, Erik Hunter, Jason Kingsley, Andy Kirra, Brett Matthews, Joey Milano, Spencer Quest, Cliff Rhodes, Erik Rhodes, Francois Sagat, Jedd Willcox, Marc Williams (19).
And for Performer of the Year, Joshua Adams, Jason Crew and Cory Koons have received the most votes so far. The other contenders: Rod Barry, Brad Benton, Michael Brandon, Alex Collack, Owen Hawk, Tim Hamilton, Johnny Hazzard, Roman Heart, Blu Kennedy, Kent Larson, Michael Lucas, Gus Mattox, Corbin Michaels, Arpad Miklos, Dean Monroe, Jeff Palmer, Marco Paris, Brad Patton, Troy Punk, Spencer Quest, Jason Ridge, Lukas Ridgeston, Shane Rollins, Jacob Slader, Bobby Williams, Parker Williams (29).
THE YEAR IN GAY PORN: JANUARY 2005
At the beginning of the year, I noted in this space that the industry was heading off to Las Vegas for "(t)he Adult Entertainment Expo, the 'Cybersocket' Awards, the 'Adult Video News' (hetero) Awards, various parties and convention-hall schmoozing..." I also wrote about the news that "musclebound, titanically hung heterosexual star/director Nacho Vidal has produced an all-male title. (Notice it's not billed as a 'gay' title, but 'all-male.') Mr. Vidal is quite popular on the straight side…(h)is 'all-male' title is to be distributed by Evil Angel and has a release date of January 17th. I don't have a copy of this video yet, so although Mr. Vidal appears naked and erect on the box I can't confirm if he actually touches another guy in the film. It's still a notable event given the homo panic the straight side is prone to exhibit." That flick turned out to be the very popular FACE FUCKERS and Mr. Vidal doesn't touch anyone except himself.
Mid-January brought the memorial service for MSR's Tony Alizzi, who tragically passed from a heart attack on January 3rd. By the end of the year, the MSR Videos catalog had been sold (by Mr. Alizzi's brother) to Titan Media and their Hollywood offices shuttered. Elsewhere that month, His Largeness, Jeff Stryker, was featured on the now-canceled "Celebrity Justice" infotainment show over a noise dispute with his neighbors in North Hollywood. As I wrote, "the 'CJ' segment aired hidden camera footage of a shirtless Mr. Stryker karate-chopping a mannequin on the street at night, then kicking a utility pole. He says it was simply a harmless self-defense move; the [neighbors] claim it is another example of his volatility. [In May 2004], Mr. Stryker also appeared on 'CJ' involving a lawsuit filed by his former business partner involving alleged misuse of funds.
"As I wrote [in May 2004], ' 'Celebrity Justice' noted with some wonderment that Mr. Stryker was 'completely unfazed' by news of the lawsuit, and asked him about his current plans. The legend professed that 'someone has to replace Clint Eastwood and it might as well be me.' Ready for a moment of surreality? Another camera crew was already shadowing Mr. Stryker (for a proposed reality series) when the 'Celebrity Justice' people showed up. Dueling camera crews! Only in Hollywood.'" By the end of 2005, Mr. Stryker was still battling with his neighbors in court (that reality series is still being shot and shopped around if anyone's interested.)
Elsewhere in January, ChiChiLaRue.com as well as JasonCurious.com and XXXMichaelBrandon.com were among the adult website winners at the "Cybersocket" Awards, Brad Benton dropped a line to announce had graduated from law school "with honors" and director Blue Blake left his longtime distributor Arena Entertainment for Pacific Sun, then changed his mind, then made the whole thing moot by retiring a few months later. Also, Hot House Entertainment discontinued production of their films on VHS, Falcon Studios announced a partnership with Hustler TV to create a Falcon-branded video-on-demand, pay-per-view television channel and the woodsy cabin built by he-man Gus Mattox was profiled in the "Village Voice."
The end of the month brought changes to the GAYVN Awards: "Best Video" was renamed "Best Picture" and the "Best DVD" category was dropped in favor of "Best DVD Special Edition." Three new categories were added: "Best Actor—Foreign Release" (won by GREEK HOLIDAY's Tim Hamilton for Bel Ami), "Best Specialty Release (Bears)" and "Best Pro/Am Release."
Regarding the GAYVN noms, I wrote: "Titan Media leads all studios with 27 total nominations, most of them for their recently released HORSE: FALLEN ANGEL 5. And there is no surprise that BUCKLEROOS 1 - 2 (Buckshots) is the most-nominated film with a whopping 18 nods. Apparently the only time they didn't place was in that new 'Bears' category."
The neatest surprise for January came with the arrival of the new issue of "Interview" magazine. I wrote, "Go pick up the February 2005 issue…themed '35 Reasons to Have Heart' [because] reasons #28 to #35 are eight Bel Ami models. Eh, what?! Hell, I don't disagree. But, wow, a bunch of queer porn stars appearing in a major photo spread of a mainstream pop culture magazine as reasons to buck up and be cheerful about the state of things... now that is what I call transgressive in this era of faux-Puritanism and politically sanctioned gay bashing.
"The spread begins on page 136. It's a fashion spread featuring a crop of gorgeous young Bel Ami beauties in skimpy swimsuits by Valentino, Calvin Klein, Armani. They are even identified as porn stars. Well, sorta. 'In recognition of the benefits of keeping things brief,' reads the introduction, [we present] a very special spring/summer 2005 swimwear preview, as modeled by the much-loved players of the Bel Ami film production studios.'
"If you didn't already know Bel Ami was a porn powerhouse, well, I don't know what you would think. The cutie on page 139 bending over a chair and displaying his Calvin Klein-wrapped butt to the camera might be a clue. But, hell, change the photo from color to black-and-white, have the kid stare blankly into the middle distance, and you've got a Bruce Weber Abercrombie & Fitch advert, right?
"The photographs are by Michael Roberts and the...featured models are Mark Aubrey, Sebastian Bonnet, Roman Chaykin, Ethan Clarke, Josh Eliot, Rick Fontana, Brandon Manilow and Jean Morrocco. They're all grinning toothily, laughing and looking healthy in the Bel Ami style. Six full-color pages, located smack dab after an interview with Baghdad-born London architect Zaha Hadid, no less."
Porn Star Birthdays from December 26 through December January 1: Tony Bullitt, Michael Costanzo, Deon, Soto Donovan, Christian Luke, Dillon Lyon, Jesse Martin, Dean Marx (December 26); Diego Alvarez, Trent Atkins, Caesar, Jason Crew, Leo DeSilver, Marco Paris, Joshua Scott, Joey Stevens (December 27); Ted Ashton, Peter Costner, Eric Evans, Jason Ridge, Eduardo Rivera, Mason Tyler (December 28); Sergio Anthony, Billy Hughes, Vince Rockland, Joey Verro (December 29); Adriano, Trenton Comeaux, Sean Conner, Erik Kovac, Lex Kyler, Bob MacHeath, Glenn Matthews (December 30); Patrick Allen, Miguel Antonio (December 31); Andel, Scott Daniels, Alexi Ferrera, John Marcus, Dixon Parker, Tom Southern, Scott Williams (January 1).

The Adams Report by J.C. Adams
December 19 - 25, 2005
This week in the "Adams Report by J.C. Adams," Chi Chi LaRue is grilled on a cable news network, COLT Studio jumps the gun on "Brokeback Mountain," and Titan Media shatters porn conventions with their circus-themed skin flick featuring adult's only "man with a pussy." (Yeah, you read that right.) Plus, in the derby to determine Best Newcomer and Performer of the Year, four studs pull ahead of the pack.
BUCK ANGEL BREAKS TABOOS
Titan Media shattered taboos when they cast Buck Angel in their recently released CIRQUE NOIR (helmed by in-house director Brian Mills). My reviewer's copy has just arrived in the mail and we're doing a cover layout on the film in the March 2006 issue of "XXX Showcase" (on sale in February). Frankly I don't know how fans will react to the layout or the movie. Buck Angel is famously billed as the "Man with a Pussy." His film BUCK'S BEAVER (Robert Hill Releasing) was just nominated for a straight AVN award. And now he is blasting into gay porn with CIRQUE NOIR in which he anchors a threeway with musclebound hunks Tober Brandt and Logan Steele.
In all respects but one, Buck Angel looks like your prototypical bald, tattooed muscle daddy. He's butch and growly and thoroughly masculine. But cast your eyes downward and you'll notice Mr. Angel also boasts a fully functioning vagina (the elaborate handwriting inked across his back spells out the word “perfect”). CIRQUE NOIR gets even kinkier with cast members named Ouchy the Clown and Rimjob the Klown — unidentified performers wearing full clown face makeup, red bulb nose and all. No kidding! Have you ever fantasized about fellating a clown? You're in luck, kid. Mr. Angel is briefly interviewed on the two-disc DVD edition of CIRQUE NOIR so you can see as much of this "man with a pussy" as you could possibly want.
I actually met Mr. Angel about eight years ago at an exclusive party in Silverlake. Someone told me a famous FTM (female-to-male) was going to be there, but as I scanned the crowd I couldn't pick out any obvious candidates. At one point someone introduced me to Mr. Angel (at the time he was hanging out with a gor-geous female dominatrix whose little black book was so scorching it gave off tiny wisps of smoke—I really do have a crazy career!) and I had no clue whatsoever about his special attributes. Truly, he comes off in person as a butch guy.
"A lot of people think having a dick makes you a man," he says in the CIRQUE NOIR DVD interview. "As you can see, even with a pussy, I'm a hundred-percent man. People are hung up on this cock thing, [as if] the only way you can be a man is with a cock and I have to disagree with that." CIRQUE NOIR runs three hours and change; watch for the big reveal around the 2:46 mark. If you're in the mood for raunch, this one has the full menu: Men with vaginas, fisting, watersports, gut-punching, butt plugs and dildos, even a pretty spectacular double-penetration on the part of the handsome Spencer Quest. Go to TLAvideo.com for specifics and BuckAngel.com for more on, well, you know.
"BROKEBACK" BUCKLEROOS?
Apart from this columnist and a few porn bloggers, has anyone else noticed COLT Studio's prescience releasing BUCKLEROOS via their Buckshots line a full year before "Brokeback Mountain"? If watching Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger briefly kissing on-screen gets your motor revved, check out real-live cowboy sex in BUCKLEROOS, with a script by Jerry Douglas and co-directed by Mr. Douglas and John Rutherford. Once again, gay porn gets there first. You want to know what's gonna happen in mainstream pop culture? Watch a gay porn movie!
CHI CHI ON MSNBC
This past week another mainstream media outlet decided to notice the pornography trade. This time it was cable news channel MSNBC and the show "Live and Direct with Rita Cosby." Ms. Cosby devoted the entire hour to examining straight porn with the giggly, wide-eyed zeal common to most mainstream coverage—and even the word "mainstream" is something of a misnomer when the skin trade is so all-encompassing.
The hour turned out to be a virtual love letter to hetero-porn colossus Vivid Entertainment. Once again gay porn was virtually ignored, but at least our own Chi Chi LaRue was prominently featured. He appeared together with Vivid's CEO Steve Hirsch, and although Ms. LaRue's work directing straight movies was the focus, his acclaimed career on the gay side of the street was briefly mentioned. Go to MSNBC.com for the transcript.
BEST OF 2005

Winners will receive a free copy of the 2006 Adam Gay Video Directory and bragging rights for a full year. So take advantage of the email address below and chime in!
(All right, because you asked so nicely I'll offer a quick taste of the leading contenders: At press time, Jason Crew and Cory Koons are tied with the most votes for Performer of the Year, while Roman Heart and Marcos Pirelli are currently in the lead for Best Newcomer.)

Oh, and speaking of the best-of and all that, my pals at LavenderLounge.com/blog asked that you pop over and check out brand-new interviews with Joey Russo (on the eve of his retirement) and the peerless Robert Black. Tell 'em J.C. Adams sent you.

The Adams Report by J.C. Adams
December 12 - 18, 2005
This week in "The Adams Report by J.C. Adams," two top swordsmen call it quits, Titan Media goes where no studio has dared to venture and Michael Lucas loses his cock. Plus: "Cybersocket" nominees, Mark Dalton goes on tour, Gino Colbert has a new Asian star, and more of your picks for Best Newcomer and Performer of the Year. Elsewhere, you may have heard the news that four Bulgarian soccer players were expelled from their team for staging a steamy fourway in their locker room. I feel terrible for the guys, who were, after all, only doing what comes naturally. But gay gossip website Queerty.com quipped that the expulsion finally "[dispels] all doubt that Bel Ami videos are unrealistic."
SLADER, RUSSO: SAYONARA
This week performers Joey Russo and Jacob Slader announced their respective retirements. I haven't spoken to Mr. Russo, but Mr. Slader contacted me towards the end of the week with the news that in June he is moving to Japan for three years to teach English (teaching English as a second language is his day job, in case you didn't know.) He's got "Wanderlust" tattooed on his left pectoral for a reason, y'know. Over the last few months he has packed some extra muscle onto his already fit, slender frame and plans to squeeze in a few more movies before he leaves. Look for a "exit interview" of sorts with Mr. Slader in the coming weeks.
He returned to gay porn about sixteen months ago after a sabbatical of several years. He's been busy with a strong slate of films: CARD TRICKS (Studio 2000); DIRTY LITTLE SINS (Red Devil); EIGHT SIMPLE RULES FOR DOING MY SON (All Worlds Video); GALE FORCE: MEN'S ROOM II (Titan Media); TEAM PLAYERS (Raging Stallion); and WAY BELOW THE BELT (Pacific Sun) among a dozen or so strong titles, including, of course, my SEX WITH STRANGERS for AWV and the upcoming WRONG SIDE OF THE TRACKS for Rascal Video, in which (as I wrote last week) he is absolutely scorching. He should snag a number of GAYVN and Grabby nominations this spring.
Joey Russo has been busy, too. Check him out in BACK TO BARSTOW; DRILL: TO THE POINT; HORSE: FALLEN ANGEL 5; MEN'S ROOM: BAKERSFIELD STATION and RIDERS for Titan Media, as well as the upcoming ARABESQUE for Raging Stallion.
Mr. Russo also appears in a brand-new Titan release titled CIRQUE NOIR, a sequel to the studio's lavishly art-directed, circus-themed CARNY. We're doing a cover layout on CIRQUE NOIR for the March issue of "XXX Showcase" (on sale in February), and I've now seen the photos. Let me just say this: With CIRQUE NOIR, Titan Media dramatically ventures where no major-studio porn flick has ever gone. Two words: Buck Angel. TLAvideo.com's detailed keyword search has tagged the film as "controversial," "extreme" and "disturbing," as well as "kinky/nasty" and "pig/raunchy." More next week.
CYBERSOCKET KUDOS
The sixth annual Cybersocket.com nominations have been announced. The remarkably thorough list of categories this year includes 29 "Surfer" and 19 "Industry" categories; the latter group includes gay adult websites.
The Best Porn Star Website category boasts six nods going to the sites belonging to Zeb Atlas (ZebAtlas.com), Andy Dill (AndyDill.com), Gus Mattox (GusMattox.com), Jacob Slader (JacobSlader.com) and Michael Brandon (XXXMichaelBrandon.com, which won last year). Oh, and JoshTucker.com. And just who in the hell is Josh Tucker? Good question. He's a 21-year-old bi cutie, long and lean with shaggy raven locks and skaterboi good looks, who has recently taken to videotaping himself and his fellow studpups and posting the clips online.
A whopping ten studio websites have been cited: AllWorldsVideo.com; BelAmiOnline.com; Channel1Releasing.com; CitiBoyz.com; COLTstudio.com; EuroCreme.com; FalconStudios.com; HotHouse.com; LucasEntertainment.com; and RagingStallion.com. Go to CybersocketWebAwards.com for details on all of the nominees and categories.
MARK DALTON RETURNS
Performer Mark Dalton has been released from the Big House and agent David Forest is not letting any grass grow beneath his feet. The blond muscle-hunk will launch his "Super Soakin' America Tour" from Texas in February. Mr. Forest notes in a press announcement that Mr. Dalton will be performing "strip-type dance shows," his first in sixteen months. The title of his tour is taken from SUPER SOAKED (Jocks/Falcon), Mr. Dalton's last movie before his unfortunate incarceration. MarkDalton.com is being updated as we speak and ForestMen.com will also have more details, I'm sure.
MEET ERIC HUNG
GAYVN Hall of Fame director Gino Colbert contacted me this week about FOUR SCORE, his new blue movie to be released by Arena Entertainment in February. A press release soon arrived in the mail with scoop on the film and Mr. Colbert's newest discovery, Eric Hung. I haven't seen any pictures of the 27-year-old former flight attendant, but he is described in the press notice as owning "the most beautiful Asian cock ever captured on film...uncut, eight-and-a-half long, six-and-a-half around, and [with] a huge head which keeps the foreskin down, thus giving the appearance of his being cut." Mr. Colbert says Eric Hung is nicknamed the "Asian Sex Machine" and "he is totally versatile...equally at ease as a top or bottom, loves to suck and get sucked, kisses better, longer and deeper than almost anyone I've known."
That's some endorsement, eh? And considering the number of current porn actors who happen to be Asian numbers exactly three — Brandon Lee, Cory Koons, Ken Mifune — there's plenty of room for him. In FOUR SCORE, Mr. Hung has a solo and duo (with Aussie newcomer Juan Casannova), as well as a threeway in the upcoming FOUR SCORE 2 (Brad Rock and Todd Smith). The movies consist of "short stories" along the lines of Mr. Colbert’s MOTEL SEX (2002), PORN FICTION (2000) and the classic THREE BROTHERS (1998). Costars in the first film include Nick Capra, Ben Damon, Trevor Knight, Brady Martin, Brett Matthews and Corbin Michaels.
MICHAEL LUCAS LOSES IT
Performers Owen Hawk, Gus Mattox and Michael Lucas have just about finished filming their roles in dragstress RuPaul's upcoming indie film (as yet untitled). Mr. Lucas, per Ms. Ru, plays "a Russian mobster who gets assassinated" by RuPaul and a costar. In the movie Mr. Lucas orders them to "blow his big, juicy, uncut, Russian cock" and instead the girls blow it off. Ouch. Sayeth Ms. Ru, "It was fascinating to watch that legendary magic stick at work...the same magic stick that built an empire!"
On LucasBlog.com, Mr. Lucas jokes about spoiling the "not very happy ending" of his character, "but I am sure many of you would love to see my dick blown off by a couple of drag queens. Because, come on, everyone knows that I owe all my success to that big penis of mine, and without it, I am nothing but an aging retarded man from communist Russia."

The Adams Report by J.C. Adams
December 5 - 11, 2005
Although we're already hurtling headlong towards Christmas, in our Thanksgiving week column I neglected an important kudo: Thanks to all of you. "The Adams Report by J.C. Adams" wouldn't exist without our readers, and we are grateful that you devote a bit of your week to reading this column. And, just between us, thanks to your support there are big changes in store in the coming months, kids, so strap yourselves in! Now let's get to this week's news and gossip from GayPornLand.
AVN AWARDS
From the Dept. of Corrections and Clarifications: I misstated the category in which directrix Chi Chi LaRue was nominated for the "Adult Video News" hetero porn awards. It's actually "Best Director, Film" for Vivid Video's SENTENCED. The flick earned eight nods and Ms. LaRue tells me Vivid is giving her another big picture to direct soon.
Our own Sharon Kane earned a nod for Best Non-Sex Performance in DESPERATE WIVES 2 (Sex-Z Pictures). The Transsexual Performer of the Year nominees are Gia Darling, Joanna Jet, Vicki Richter (who won last year) and Wendy Williams. (Vanity, who picked up the first trophy when it was established two years ago, was not nominated this year.) I mention the tranny nominees and winners here in this column because I find it amusing that straight men have made the "chicks with dicks" genre a booming business, while the gay male audience, apart from a small but devoted group, pretty much couldn't care less.
Here are the fifteen nominees for Best Transsexual Release (last year the winner was SHE-MALE STROKERS from Mancini Prods./Exquisite Multimedia): BUCK'S BEAVER (Robert Hill Releasing); PLANET GISELLE 3 (Lustworld Prods./Lava Releasing); ROGUE ADVENTURES 24 (Joey Silvera/Evil Angel); SHE SAID "BLOW ME" AND SHE MEANT IT! 4 (Nacho Vidal/Evil Angel); SHE MALE SAMBA MANIA 22 (Latin Eyes/Third World Media);
SHE-MALE STORIES 4 (Bacchus Releasing); SHE-MALES INVADE ITALY (Rocco Siffredi/Evil Angel); SUCK MY TRANNY COCK (Rodnievision/Exquisite Multimedia); T-GIRLS 2 (Anabolic Video Prods.); THIRD SEX ENCOUNTERS 2 (DVSX);
TRANNY HUNTER 8 (Zaye Ent./NorthStar Associates); TRANSSEXUAL BAREBACKIN' IT 5 (Robert Hill Releasing); TRANSSEXUAL HEARTBREAKERS 31 (Gia Darling Ent./Avalon); TRANSSEXUAL P.O.V. 3 (White Ghetto Films/Devil's Film); WENDY'S WILD SHE-MALES (Hot Wendy Prods./Avalon).
I think a copy of SHE SAID "BLOW ME" AND SHE MEANT IT! 4 would make for a lovely XXX-mas gift, don't you? Go to EvilAngel.com for details. And AVNawards.com will have more scoop on the straightie porn show.
THE BEST OF GAY PORN: 2005
Every year "The Adams Report by J.C. Adams" collects nominees from fans and the industry for Best Newcomer and Performer of the Year. We usually start much earlier in the year, but with deadlines and finishing the Adam Gay Video Directory and the new changes in store for this column...well, we just forgot.
Anywauy, better late than never. Let's hear it! Who do you think deserves to be named 2005's Best Newcomer and Performer of the Year? Send in your picks via the email address below, I'll compile all of the names, and the top ten will be identified by most number of votes. We'll then have another round of voting to pick the winners. I'll start the ball rolling: For Performer of the Year, Cory Koons. Have you freaking seen LUBE JOB from Raging Stallion?! Do it now. Mr. Koons should be nommed for that movie alone. Other potentials: Joshua Adams, Brad Benton, Jason Crew, Johnny Hazzard, Arpad Miklos, Bobby Williams. And for Best Newcomer, I'll start with Remy Delaine (if he qualifies). Other hot newbies: Bruce Beckham, Kevin Brown, Caleb Carter, Brett Matthews, Joey Milano, Marcos Pirelli.
SOFTCORE RASCAL
Directrix Chi Chi LaRue hosted a private viewing party Friday, December 2nd at the Channel 1 Releasing headquarters in Hollywood to screen a special quasi-softcore version of WRONG SIDE OF THE TRACKS. "Quasi-softcore" meant just a taste of each sex scene in this epic two-parter in order to emphasis the acting, script, direction and other tech credits. It's a smart way to get reviewers like me to pay particular attention to these aspects of the film, of which Ms. LaRue is very proud.
I'm also kind of grateful she didn't decide to screen the full sex scenes. We joked about the few times that's happened over the years and it's always awkward to sit in a room with a bunch of people and watch sex, even with a porn crowd. Way, way, way back, I attended a screening at the Director's Guild of America headquarters on Sunset Boulevard. The movie was Wash West's DR. JERKOFF AND MR. HARD and it was the full monty, blowjobs and all. Even then the buzz around Mr. West as an up-and-comer was enough to draw mainstream film folks like Wallace Shawn and Amy Heckerling, who sat directly in front of me during the screening. That was surreal, let me tell you.
But Mr. West has made good on his promise; his new indie film “Quinceanera” (co-directed with Richard Glatzer) was accepted to the upcoming Sundance Film Festival. More on that in an upcoming column (as well as the gay indie film "Long-Term Relationship" in which our own Bret Wolfe has landed a small role).
Back to WSOTT, which stars the scorching Johnny Hazzard as an aimless punk who ditches hicksville, and an abusive stepfather, in search of adventure. He encounters Chad Savage (on loan from All Worlds Video), a handsome rich boy with his own daddy issues, plus a jealous boyfriend, in tow. Although WSOTT ends in a specific way, Ms. LaRue shot two additional alternate endings that are available on the DVD.
Ms. LaRue says the origin of the film was simple. "I wanted to write a star movie for Johnny Hazzard," he told me. "I wanted to do big movie-star picture for him because he is a movie star. Just look at him!" I agree wholeheartedly. As for the character he plays, the directrix says a few choices were obvious. "With his look, the scruff on his face and the tattoos all over, he's either gonna be a hottie leather boy in a bar, or a punk. That just comes naturally to him. But you know what's interesting? In real life he's kind of a hippie. He's very relaxed and laid back."
WSOTT was co-written by Doug Jeffries and features a galaxy of big names in supporting roles. All Worlds Exclusive Kevin Brown was also loaned to the production, alongside Mr. Savage, and he is very good as one of Mr. Hazzard’s buddies; Shane Rollins appears as Mr. Hazzard's small-town lover; Luca DiCorso makes a vivid impression as Mr. Savage's gorgeous, and gorgeously bitchy, boyfriend; legend Marcus Iron turns up as a sympathetic hustler who takes Mr. Hazzard under his wing for a brief spell; and Jacob Slader is absolutely scorching as a partier amped on cocaine and fucking off his high in a skeevy hotel room. Expect him to be nominated for this part alongside Mr. DiCorso for Best Supporting Actor and Mr. Hazzard for Best Actor.
Among those attending the screening: Channel 1 Releasing staffers Steven Walker, Jefferson, Doug Jeffries and Rob Reimer; performers Robbie Angel, Brandon Lee and Rob Romoni; Randy Blue of RandyBlue.com; shutterbug Greg "Mocha" Lenzman; cameraman Ross Cannon (who has a small nonsex role); reviewer Leo Buck; Doug Lawrence, Jeff Rosenberg and Ken Knox of "Adult Video News" magazine; Bryan Baltin, the new editor of "Cybersocket" mag; and Joey DiBartolo (formerly of JoeyandCarlo.com). Everyone was presented with a gift bag after the screening containing a copy of the DVD; a BOLT 2006 calendar (Jan Fischer on the cover); a "Warning" 2006 daily diary with photographs from the recently released book of the same name; a cock ring from LaRue's Rascal Wear line; and a bottle of XXX-Cite, Ms. LaRue's own brand of lube. Quite a haul! Click over to Channel1Releasing.com for more information.
Porn Star Birthdays from December 5 through December 11: Rod Barry, Jason Branch, Dean Butler, Jean Franko, Brendan Knight, Nick Piston, Brandon Small, Cole Youngblood (December 5); Michael Corey, Van Kale, Billy Knight, Scott Lyons (December 6); Liam Anderson, Juan Carlos, Randy Foreman, Cody Marshall, Ethan Masters, Rich South, Adam Strasburg (December 7); Ryan Alexander, Austin Brooks, Chance, Spencer Quest, Brock Tyler, Jurgen Varg (December 8); Kevin Alexander, Kevin Kemp, David Moretti, Tracey O'Neil, Christian Owen, Karl Radford, Mark Reed (December 9); Jay Black, Richard Black, Caesar Cruz, Philipe Lyon, Erik York (December 10); Mathias Bouvier, Marco Mancini, Chris Michaels, Daniel Rivero, Jack Simmons, Chad Williams (December 11).
J.C. Adams has covered the gay adult entertainment industry since 1995, and has served as the editor of "Inside Porn Magazine" and "Unzipped Monthly." "Quasi-softcore" meant just a taste of each sex scene in this epic two-parter in order to emphasis the acting, script, direction and other tech credits.
